Web Host 1&1 Publishes User Study
August 21, 2006 -- Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet (1and1.com) announced on Monday it has released a study that reveals that personal Web sites and email addresses are fast becoming a consumer must-have.
According to 1&1, the study shows one in four people already publishing their own Web sites or keen to do so. The company says it has seen an increasing number of UK consumers creating customized email addresses by using registering their own domains.
The study also found that men and women wish to publish very different things online. The research, conducted by Tickbox.Net, found that 55 percent of men enjoyed publishing hobby material on their Web sites compared to some 40 percent of women. Women, on the other hand, preferred publishing personal memorabilia like family photos. The study also found that both men and women enjoyed blogging, with one in four people saying that blogging was something they do or would like to do on their own Web sites.
"Our research shows that Web sites are fast becoming the way in which individuals interact with the community, their family and like-minded people," says Andreas Gauger, CEO of 1&1 Internet. "They provide a great platform for all types of people to communicate. Personal Web solutions are no longer the reserve of the tech-savvy. Today's packages are as quick and easy as picking up the phone or chatting with your neighbors over the garden fence."
