F5 Products Comply with RoHS Directive

F5 Networks, Inc. announced availability of Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) -compliant versions of the BIG-IP®, BIG-IP Application Security Module, FirePass® SSL VPN, WANJet™, WebAccelerator™, and Enterprise Me Manager product lines.

RoHS is a European Union (EU) directive that limits hazardous materials from entering the environment, modeled after 2003 Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling directive. In accordance with RoHS, all electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ether may not be sold in the EU after July 1, 2006, subject to certain limited exemptions.

F5’s Environmental Policy provides a foundation for all environmental compliance initiatives. One of the Policy’s major objectives is to comply with, or exceed, all applicable and anticipated environmental regulations. In addition to ensuring company products shipped to the EU are RoHS-compliant in advance of July 1, F5 targets manufacturing lines worldwide to produce only RoHS-compliant versions of all products by the end of 2007. As a complement to compliance efforts, F5 continues to limit corporate energy use and implement active recycling programs in all offices around the globe.
