Spammers Use Bullying and Email Extortion to Intimidate Members of the Blue Community to Give up Fight Against Spam

Blue Security Reacts to Spammer’s Attempt to Browbeat Members into Abandoning Blue Community Menlo Park, Calif., May 1, 2005 – Blue Security, Inc., developers of the Do Not Intrude Registry™ solution to eliminate unsolicited e-mail spam, announced today that a well-known spammer is attempting to intimidate Blue Community members by sending threatening emails. This morning, a portion of the Blue Community members received intimidating emails claiming retribution against members that do not cease use of the Blue Frog software solution that enables them to automatically opt-out of spam lists.

“This is just proof that the Blue Community is an effective deterrent to spammers that are using unethical and illegal tactics to promote their products and services,” said Eran Reshef, founder and CEO of Blue Security. “Six out of the top 10 spammers are complying or in the process of complying with the Do Not Intrude Registry – significantly decreasing the amount of spam received by our members. Spammers are feeling the pressure to comply with our community of almost 500,000 members. This incident is only a futile attempt by a degenerate spammer to fight back through intimidation and extortion.”

Reshef continued, “Blue Security’s Do Not Intrude Registry is encrypted and individual member emails are not exposed to would-be spammers. The renegade spammer that sent today’s email is using scare tactics and outright lies to further his agenda – to stop the growth of the Blue Community. Our members are not in any jeopardy of ‘exposure’ since the spammers already have their addresses. That is why they joined the Blue Community – to stop spam at its source by seeking compliance with the Registry.”

“To date, the Community has successfully persuaded key spammers to comply with the Do Not Intrude Registry. In fact, spammers responsible for over 25% of all spam, and 50% of illegal spam, are currently compliant or in the process of becoming compliant with the registry,” Reshef added.

“Our members have absolutely no reason to be intimidated. This incident only serves to strengthen our conviction to help prevent individuals and businesses from being taken hostage by spammers and their illegal tactics. Blue Security has made tremendous headway in garnering compliance and will continue to proactively fight spam on behalf of our members,” concluded Reshef.
