CSC Wins $42.3 Million Department of Defense Contract to Provide Web Hosting and Applications Support

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept 27, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) announced today that it has won a contract to provide Web hosting and applications support services to the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). CSC estimates the value of the contract, which has a four-year base period and one two-year option, to be approximately $42.3 million if the option is exercised.

The new agreement follows and is incremental to a five-year, $25 million contract signed with the DTIC in 2001, under which CSC provides Web hosting support for various Department of Defense (DoD) Web sites.

Under the terms of the new agreement, CSC will host internal and external DoD Web sites for the Office of the Secretary of Defense (through DefenseLINK -- www.dod.mil), the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Washington Headquarters Services and other DoD offices and agencies. In addition, CSC will establish single sign-on network capabilities; implement connectivity for unique agency networks -- NIPRNET and SIPRNET; support Web services; improve registration processes; and expand full-text search, content management systems and Web portal offerings.

"We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with the DTIC," said Ashley Smith, president of CSC's Networks and Telecommunications Integrated Solutions organization. "Having worked with the Center since 1992 to provide technological support for various DoD agencies, CSC has a solid legacy of experience to help the DTIC produce significant operational results."

Approximately 50 CSC Web and applications developers, systems administrators and other information technology (IT) professionals will perform the work at the DTIC headquarters at Ft. Belvoir, Va., and other DTIC locations in the Washington, D.C., area, supporting as many as 80 public, limited-access and classified DoD Web sites.

The DTIC is the premier provider of DoD technical information and serves as a vital link in the transfer of information among DoD personnel, contractors and other U.S. government agency personnel.
